We have been saying it for years. Sugar is far more detrimental to your health than most fats. So why then has the medical industry continued to treat fats as evil and never really mentions sugar at all?
Cristin Kearns, researcher at the University of California, San Francisco, has discovered why, and it’s dirty.
She was able to uncover documents showing the direct relationship between the sugar industry and medical researchers during the 1960’s and 70’s. Further, Kearns details how the sugar industry paid nearly $50,000.00 to publish a paper that would link fat and cholesterol – and not sugar- to an increased risk of heart disease.
The conclusion of this and other papers submitted by the Sugar Association supposedly established that the only way to reduce the risk of heart disease was to reduce dietary cholesterol and substitute polyun-saturated fats for saturated fat in the diet. This was in 1967. The medical industry has been on a witch hunt for cholesterol ever since, opening the door for the medical profession to push dangerous statin drugs on millions of people, making drug companies billions.
During the 1980’s and 90’s we were force fed propaganda about fats and the food industry pushed all sorts of “low-fat” foods on us, which of course were loaded with sugar! Despite all this heart disease continued to increase to epidemic proportions.
Today the medical industry is slowly coming to realize that sugar, not fat, was the problem behind the heart disease epidemic after all. The sad thing is that we have known about all this since the early 1970’s. In his book “Pure, White, and Deadly”, British nutritionist John Yudkin wrote that “If only a small fraction of what we know about the effects of sugar were to be revealed, that material would promptly be banned.”
