In spite of dozens of drugs and numerous surgical procedures, heart disease is still the number one cause of death in most industrialized nations. While there are many forms of possible heart disease, the heart attack is the most common and most feared. Heart attacks can also come as a result of several causes, but the most common cause is the slow and steady blockage of arterial blood flow leading away from the heart.

February is Heart Disease month, and in spite of all the medical advancements in cardiovascular research heart disease remains the number one killer in most industrialized nations. This is primarily because medicine is looking to “manage” heart disease rather than address the causes. The biggest factor is blocked arteries. For decades cholesterol has been blamed for the blockages but in truth while excess cholesterol in the wrong form may contribute to the problem in the advanced stages cholesterol does NOT actually cause Heart Disease!! This process is a long chain of events that lead up to the blocking of arterial blood flow. New U.S. 2016 dietary guidelines limit sugar, rethink cholesterol

The new U.S. 2016 dietary guidelines limit sugar, rethink cholesterol. Well the guidelines for healthy eating have been released and there isn’t much that’s new unfortunately. The dietetics industry is still trying to fit all of us into one mold – implying that their diet recommendations are universally good for everyone. This has never been true and certainly isn’t today.

Three diets have been selected as “acceptable” by the industry.

The Healthy American Diet – (didn’t know there was one) Still based on the old 2,000 calorie intake this diet offers two thousand calories, which may not be enough for very active people and can be too much for those who are sedentary or have a sluggish metabolism. Further, this diet revolves around high carbohydrates, moderate protein, and low fat. This is the same combination that hasn’t worked for decades but they keep dragging it out over and over.

The next is the Mediterranean Diet – Of the three this is the best choice for overall guidelines but still this diet plan would not fit for everyone, especially carbohydrate intolerant, hypoglycemic, and diabetic individuals as it still provides way to many carbohydrates for these problems. The Mediterranean Diet can also be short on calcium, which is easily supplemented.

The last diet is the Vegetarian Diet – Oh no here we go again, vegetarian diets are fine as long as adequate protein is ingested. This often requires food combining as most vegetable proteins are incomplete and must be combined in groups in order to be absorbable. Most vegetarians don’t consider this and more often than not, are protein deficient as a result.

Low Fat Diets for High Cholesterol

We have all seen the headlines, low fat diets for high cholesterol. Cholesterol is one of the most misunderstood substances in the body. It is essential for hundreds of functions. So important is it that the body actually manufactures about 80% of all the cholesterol in your body. The medical profession even in the light of proof that cholesterol does NOT cause heart disease keeps scaring people with the fears of elevated cholesterol. Cholesterol lowering:

As part of their program to drive cholesterol levels down, even to very unsafe levels, doctors often recommend that their patients go on a low fat diet. The low fat diet, over time, can be very dangerous and damaging to your metabolism. Low fat diets which I talk about in my special report Controlling Cholesterol and Triglycerides can cause serious deficiencies of key nutrients, which require fat for their metabolism. A low fat diet slows down your resting metabolic rate so if you are also overweight you may find weight loss harder and harder the longer you follow that type of diet program.

Consider the negatives of a low fat diet and factor that in with the fact that you don’t actually “eat” cholesterol as the majority of this substance is manufactured in the liver. There is NO evidence that a low fat diet actually lowers cholesterol levels in the long run in any case. How to Avoid Heart Disease!

This comes from my good friends at the Westin Price Foundation.

How to Avoid Heart Disease:
1.Do not take cholesterol lowering drugs They cause heart failure
2.Avoid processed food, especially those containing vegetable oils and Trans fats. This is the single greatest cause of heart disease!
3.Eat plenty of wild caught seafood.
4.Maintain a healthy weight – not too much or too little.
5.Engage in moderate exercise at least three times per week
6.Do not use skim milk or consume egg whites without the whole egg. Doing so deprives the body of key nutrients and can lead to a serious vitamin A deficiency.

Vitamin A deficiency can lead to heart disease.
Well I have to agree with them totally!

Now when it comes to atherosclerosis or the plugging up of the arteries, this is primarily a problem of calcification of the arteries. They body can and will remove these calcium deposits if you give it the right nutrients to support this process. Natural Cholesterol Management

Elevated cholesterol seems to be on virtually everyone’s mind, from health care professionals to the many millions of people who have been told their serum cholesterol is too high. While elevated cholesterol in and of itself, has never been proven to cause heart disease, it does signal a malfunction within the liver. Keep in mind that 80% of all the cholesterol in your body at any given time is produced in your liver. The liver is therefore responsible for regulating cholesterol production. If your cholesterol is significantly elevated it is a sign of a liver issue. The best way to address elevated cholesterol then is by supporting the liver.

Statin drugs, used to force cholesterol down actually accomplish this by damaging the liver. The many side effects, which continue to surface regularly, are indications of the severe action these drugs have on the body in general. Finding a way to support the health liver is far better than risking the damage that these drugs can cause. Remember that there is a reason why patients taking these drugs MUST have regular liver function blood tests!

Years of consuming the Standard American Diet (SAD) has led to “liver congestion” mostly due to rancid, hydrogenated or polyunsaturated fats and oils. These oils clog the liver and prevent it from performing many vital functions including regulating cholesterol production.

When considering a natural approach, we looked at the many nutrients and herbal extracts that have a clear history of liver support. Why? The egg is the most perfect food for humans. The cholesterol in the eggs signal the liver to slow production of internal cholesterol and the lecithin, also found in the egg, keeps the liver happy.

Elevated cholesterol need not be the feared issue it has become.
